On February 18th, 2011, our lives were changed forever when our son Christian Taylor Buchanan entered the world. He was born with a bilateral cleft palate and lip and almost completely blind. As I set in a hospital room at Vanderbilt Chikdn's hospital on May 23rd and listened to the groans and crys of my very much in pain post-op 3 month old son, I remember thinking "My life is over. This is it. The rest of my life will be surgery after surgery, watching Christian suffer, and I will never enjoy life again." I literally thought that! At the time, it didn't seem far fetched at all. At the time, it seemed the most logical answer. It seemed like the appropriate thing to think.
